Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Club has developed the following Codes of Conduct to establish expectations for our Field Hockey players, families, and spectators. All participants are expected to adopt these policies, based on sportsmanship and fair play, as they provide a positive and rewarding experience for everybody.
As a player for Tri-City Eagles Field Hockey Association, I will:
- play for FUN and enjoyment of the sport
- understand that both winning and losing is part of the sport
- work hard to improve my skills
- be a team player – get along with and cooperate with my teammates
- show teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline. Be on time for all games and practices.
- learn the rules and play by them.
- respect my coaches, teammates, parents, opponents and the officials.
- never argue with the decision of an official or coach.
- respect the arena and its facilities.
As a parent/guardian of a Tri-City Eagles player(s), I will
- not force my children to participate in sports, but support their desires to play their chosen sport.
- refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices
- be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect, courtesy, and positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at games, practices or other sporting events.
- teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning
- never ridicule or yell at my child or any other participant
- respect the officials and their authority during games and not question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field
- emphasize the benefits of skill development and practices and de-emphasize games and competition, especially in the lower age groups
- familiarize myself with rules of the game and support the officials
- recognize and appreciate the importance of volunteer coaches – communicate with them and support them
As a spectator at a Tri-City Eagles game or event, I will
- display good sportsmanship. Always respect players, coaches and officials
- cheer in a positive manner and encourage fair play
- help to provide a safe and fun environment
- support the referees and coaches by trusting their judgment and integrity
- be supportive after the game – win or lose. Recognize good effort, teamwork and sportsmanship
